Today I found some tools that might help to creating mobile app or mobile web app wireframing, although you can use some vector graphic editor or image manipulation editor, I think specific wireframing tools will save more time for non design user.

iPhone Mockup

It is an online tool for creating iphone application mockup, the widget are available of two version illustration and pencil (which have pencil sketch style widget), currently targeted for Firefox and Safari, I assume if it runs on safari it will run on chrome too. ( visit )

iPlotz

iPlotz is a desktop application based on adobe air which means supported for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This application quite nice for creating mobile app mockup, there a built in widget for iPhone/iPad and Android, even it have general web application widget. The free version have limited number of project and wireframe page. ( visit )

Balsamiq

Available on web demo and installed desktop application as an adobe air software, it have mostly used widget in web application including iphone, on the free edition you have full access to all the features and it available for 7 days trial. ( visit )

Droid Draw

It’s a web based application based on java, this tool is specified for android device, and it support code generation. ( visit )

WireframeSketcher

This tool come as a standalone application that can runs on windows, mac, or linux, also this tool are available as an Eclipse Plugin IDE, there are some component dedicated to this tool in mockupsgallery. Available for free trial. ( visit )

Pencil With Android Utils

Pencil is one of my favorite wireframing tool, it came as a stand alone application, chrome extension or firefox extension, by default it doesn’t have any mobile widget so you need to install this pencil android util. ( visit pencil | visit android utils )

Yeblon Android Mockup

Very simple online wireframing tool it has a pencil sketch look a like. ( visit )

Flare Builder

Another adobe air application that available free for 15 days trial, but this one seem do not have a complete smartphone widget. ( visit )

Designer Vista

It is nice wireframing tool for application designer, but it is not free, you can try it for 20 days trial, it only runs on windows system, but for mobile wireframing it provide iPhone, Android and Windows Phone widget. ( visit )

MobiOne Studio

Besides a wireframing tool this app can be used as a simulator for testing mobile web application, iPhone and WebOS simulation are available. ( visit )

Single Post

The model used in single post are the same as on the Index page, the different is just the total post that returned from the server. In this single post screen I put a button on the bottom toolbar for displaying comment form that will appear as a floating panel, my thought so the reader can submitting a comment after reading the post.

Comment List

The wordpress theme in this post are really simple, maybe you can develop further, I only create these features: index page with pagination, single post page, comment list page, and submit comment. For sencha touch the application structure not really different from my previous post about sencha touch gallery, it MVC structure that generated using sencha command.

Setting Up Themes

The theme file structure is based on generated sencha touch command, remember to add index.php and style.css file in the theme directory, and use the wordpress theme url to include the css or javascript file, something like this

Day by day, web application framework make our development easier and faster, with the growing of mobile devices such as smartphone and tablet pc for browsing the web, the web framework need to meet the difference screen for each devices, different user experience. These are the list of framework (well not all actually a framework) that can be choosen by you for developing mobile web application, some provide full user interface and some only provide a basic framework.

1. Sencha Touch

Sencha Touch is one of the product of SenchaInc, the first HTML5 mobile JavaScript framework that allows developer to develop mobile web apps that look and feel native on iPhone and Android touchscreen devices. Sencha Touch built like the ExtJS component, if have some experience with ExtJS I believe it will bring the advantage for easier learning.

2. jQuery Mobile

I think this is the most awaited in mobile web application framework, because the popularity of jQuery, this framework is not the first but getting a lot of attention, jQuery Mobile: Touch-Optimized Web Framework for Smartphones & Tablets. A unified user interface system across all popular mobile device platforms, built on the rock-solid jQuery and jQuery UI foundation. Its lightweight code is built with progressive enhancement, and has a flexible, easily themeable design.

This is not a framework but just a jQuery plugin for mobile web development on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and other forward-thinking devices. Now this project a part of Sencha Labs, the company who developing Sencha Touch. I love the default theme that have black, dark look and feel.

iUI is a framework consisting of a JavaScript library, CSS, and images for developing advanced mobile webapps for iPhone and comparable/compatible devices. iUI has the following features: Create Navigational Menus and iPhone-style interfaces from standard HTML, use or knowledge of JavaScript is not required to create modern mobile web pages, ability to handle phone orientation changes, provide a more “iPhone-like” experience in your Web apps.

10. Zepto.js

Zepto.js is a minimalist JavaScript framework for mobile WebKit browsers, with a jQuery-compatible syntax. The goal: a 2-5k library that handles most basic drudge work with a nice API so you can concentrate on getting stuff done. Zepto.js is created by Thomas Fuchs the author of script.aculo.us, the javascript user interface framework.

With all the choice that we have, sometimes we confuse what should we choose, but I’m sure the most promising framework to use in the future are the first two, they are Sencha Touch, backed by strong company and jQueryMobile, that have very large community.
