Previous Themes

When this blog launch I still not really familiar with wordpress, and one of my mistake is not finding out how to enhancing my blog design right away, so for the first time using a free theme called scruffy and I used it for more than 6 months.

And the second themes I decided to designing my own blog theme, to make the design safe I tried to create a simple and minimalist one, the result I’m not very satisfied, but even you think it ugly it is better to appreciate your own work.

And for now I feel, if I have some time, I must designing my own blog my self, not because I don’t like the other themes, some free premium like and free minimalist wordpress themes are favorites themes, but create my own design will sharpen my skill and experience in web design and got other knowledge like exploring wordpress function, api, etc, in small steps.

Get Brave To Design

My background is from IT related field which means my previous work mostly with backend application such as creating business logic, sql queries, dealing with file structure, etc. When it came to design (the front end) I got confused. So I exploring some CSS gallery site, find what site that I think have a cool design and finding how to design it. I learn CSS and HTML structure, exploring some free themes structure, instead learn graphic software like photoshop or fireworks, cause these software not specific only for web design.

Conclusion

I think If you have a design blog it is better to design your own blog, start creating simple themes, even if your design not as good as other blog, in this case you already show what you got and what you have to do next is improving step by step, plus you will get some new skill in web design or if you have some budget to buy great themes at least you know the process how to design, remember your blog is design blog.
